Is It Legal to Play Natural8 in Vietnam?
No — and the risk is high. Article 321 (gambling) of Vietnam's Criminal Code (enacted 2015, amended 2017) treats gambling “using the internet, computer networks, telecommunications networks or electronic devices” as an aggravating circumstance, punishable by 3 to 7 years' imprisonment.

What Article 321 of the Criminal Code says
Vietnam's gambling offence is set out in Article 321 of the Criminal Code (enacted 2015, amended 2017). We compiled the following from analyses by Đại biểu Nhân dân, the newspaper of Vietnam's National Assembly, and by a Vietnamese law firm:
| Situation | Penalty |
|---|---|
| Clause 1: illegal gambling where the money or goods at stake are worth from VND 5 million to under VND 50 million; or under VND 5 million where the person has previously been administratively sanctioned or convicted for gambling and the record has not been cleared | A fine of VND 20 million to 100 million, or non-custodial reform for up to 3 years, or imprisonment of 6 months to 3 years |
| Clause 2 (aggravating circumstance, point c): committing the offence using the internet, computer networks, telecommunications networks or electronic devices | Imprisonment of 3 to 7 years |
| Clause 3: additional penalty | An additional fine of VND 10 million to 50 million may be imposed |
Official Dispatch No. 196/TANDTC-PC of Vietnam's Supreme People's Court interprets clause 2, point c as gambling online using the internet or electronic devices. In other words, if you play real-money online poker on a phone or computer in Vietnam and the amount reaches the threshold, the heavier 3–7 year bracket applies.
What we were able to check: the above is based on analyses of Article 321 by the National Assembly newspaper and a law firm; we were not able to open the article's original text in Vietnam's official legal database directly. Natural8's operations in Vietnam
- Vietnamese-language site. Natural8's official site and Help Centre are available in Vietnamese (Tiếng Việt), one of only four languages.
- Facebook livestreams. Other regions use Twitch; Vietnam's official streams run on the Facebook page Natural8.Vietnam.
- Ambassador Thai Ha. A Team Hot member, 3rd on Vietnam's all-time money list, with about US$3.51 million in live tournament earnings — see the ambassadors page.
Vietnamese language ≠ legal in Vietnam. Offering a Vietnamese site and signing a Vietnamese ambassador only shows that the platform targets Vietnamese speakers. For players in Vietnam, Article 321 still applies — and online gambling is an aggravating circumstance.
Natural8's own rules
- Account opening depends on the drop-down list. Natural8 does not publish a list of restricted countries; its terms (section 2.11) say you can't open an account if your country of residence isn't in the sign-up list, and the same applies while travelling.
- A VPN breaks the terms. Disguising your location breaks section 2.11; you must submit ID and proof of address before withdrawing, which can lead to account closure and frozen funds.
Thailand's rules are on the Thailand page, and a comparison across regions is on regions. If gambling is affecting your life, see the support options on the responsible gaming page.
