Texas Hold'em basic rules
- Post the blinds. The two players to the left of the button (the dealer position) post the small blind and the big blind. These forced bets make sure there's always something in the pot to play for. At tables with an ante, every player also puts in a small amount.
- Hole cards and pre-flop betting. Each player gets 2 private hole cards. Action starts with the player to the left of the big blind.
- The flop. Three community cards are dealt face up, and the second betting round starts with the first player still in the hand to the left of the button.
- The turn. One more community card, and a third betting round.
- The river. The last community card, and the fourth betting round.
- Showdown. If two or more players are left, they show their cards, and the best 5 cards from 2 hole cards + 5 community cards win; see poker hand rankings. If at any point only one player is left, they win the pot immediately.
Your options in each round: fold (give up the hand), check (pass when nobody has bet), bet, call (match someone else's bet), raise and all-in (put in all your chips). Natural8's Hold'em cash games are No-Limit, so you can bet up to all the chips in front of you.
Playing a hand in the Natural8 client
- Install the client first. No Natural8 poker game runs in a browser; you need the Windows, Mac, Android or iOS client. See the download guide.
- Pick a table. Choose by game type and stake in the lobby; multi-tabling works on both desktop and mobile.
- Read your opponents. The built-in Smart HUD shows each opponent's VPIP (how often they voluntarily put money in the pot) on their icon. A high number means they play a lot of hands and lean loose.
- Bet. On mobile, Smart Betting suggests bet sizes; beginners can lean on it at first and gradually build their own sizing habits.
- Review. After a session, replay each hand on the PokerCraft timeline; see Natural8 poker tools.
