Minimum losing hand
| Game | Losing hand must be at least |
|---|---|
| Hold'em | Aces full of Tens |
| PLO (4 cards) | Four twos |
| PLO-5 | Four eights |
| PLO-6 | Four jacks |
| Short Deck 6+ | Four sixes |
| Rush & Cash | Same as the underlying game, 6 players dealt in |
If you're not sure how hands rank, start with the poker hand rankings. The more hole cards, the higher the bar, because four of a kind is more common in PLO-5 and PLO-6.
Four conditions
- The hand reaches showdown. If anyone folds along the way, it doesn't count.
- Both players use two hole cards. The loser's and the winner's best five cards must each include both of their own hole cards.
- Only the first run counts. If you run it multiple times, only the first run is used.
- Not at a featured table. Featured tables are excluded from the Bad Beat Jackpot.
A Hold'em example
Board A♦T♣T♥4♠2♣
- Player A holds A♠A♥: A-A-A-T-T, Aces full of Tens, using both hole cards, so it meets the minimum.
- Player B holds T♠T♦: four tens, using both hole cards, and wins the pot.
As long as it goes to showdown, it's the first run and it's not a featured table, the Bad Beat Jackpot is triggered: Player A, the loser, gets 10% and Player B, the winner, gets 3%.
How the payout is split
Pools build up and pay out separately for each blind level, split like this:
| Who | Share of that stake's pool |
|---|---|
| Loser (the player who took the bad beat) | 10% |
| Winner (the player who won the pot) | 3% |
| Every other player dealt in | 0.8% each |
By those percentages, one hit at a 6-max table pays out 10% + 3% + 4 × 0.8% = 16.2% of the pool; at a 9-max table it's 10% + 3% + 7 × 0.8% = 18.6%. The current size of each pool is shown in the client.
Go to the cash tablesFunding: that extra 1BB
| Game | When | Goes to the fund |
|---|---|---|
| Hold'em / PLO (6-max) | Pot ≥ 30BB | 1BB |
| 9-max | Pot ≥ 30BB | 0.8BB |
| Short Deck | Pot > 100 antes | 1 ante |
This is taken on top of the 5% rake. In Rush & Cash, big pots also lose another 0.5BB to the Cash Drop fund; see Rush & Cash and our rake guide.
Don't mix it up with the other jackpots
- AoF Jackpot: All-in or Fold only; Hold'em needs a straight flush or better, Omaha a royal flush. See AoF.
- Mystery Bounty Jackpot: the bounty multiplier prize in Mystery Battle Royale, up to x20,000. See Mystery Battle Royale.
